About Cuelift

Cuelift is a calm, simple teleprompter for video. Your words scroll in a reading window next to the camera lens, so you keep natural eye contact while you record. No account, no watermark, no ads.

It is made for anyone who reads from a script and still wants to look at the camera: creators, presenters, teachers, speakers and actors filming self-tapes.

Cuelift Pro is optional. It adds unlimited take length, 4K recording on supported devices, .docx and public Google Docs import, and custom colours, fonts and themes. Choose monthly, yearly (with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers), or a one-time lifetime purchase. There is no paywall when you first open the app: Pro appears only when you tap a Pro feature, reach the 3-minute limit or look for it in Settings. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and vary by region.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Write or paste your script

    Create a script in your library, then type it, paste it or open a .txt file. Everything stays on your device, so it works without a connection.

  2. Step 2

    Make the text yours

    Set the speed, text size, line spacing and side margins, choose left or centre alignment, and read in white on black or black on white.

  3. Step 3

    Flip it for a glass rig

    Mirror the text horizontally or vertically, for example for a teleprompter glass rig. Mirroring is free.

  4. Step 4

    Tap Prompt and read at your pace

    After a countdown you can set to off, 3 or 5 seconds, the text scrolls at the speed you chose. Tap to pause or resume, and drag to jump back or ahead. A progress bar and the time remaining stay in view.

  5. Step 5

    Tap Record to film

    Choose the front or back camera and record video and audio up to 1080p, with the reading window next to the camera lens: under it in portrait, beside it in landscape on a phone. Free takes run up to 3 minutes with no watermark.

  6. Step 6

    Review your takes

    Every take is kept in your Takes list and, unless you turn that off in Settings, saved to Photos. Play it, share it or delete it.

  • No account

    You never sign in. The app never asks for your name, e-mail address or phone number.

  • No ads, no tracking

    No analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service and no tracking. The app never asks to track you across other apps.

  • Stays on your device

    Scripts, camera, microphone and photos are used on your device, and recordings stay there unless you share them. Importing a public Google Doc (Pro) is fetched straight from Google.

  • Purchases

    Apple or Google process payments. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID (not linked to your name) and your purchase status to unlock Pro.

What do I get without paying?
Everything you need to read and record: unlimited scripts, the prompter, mirroring, and recording up to 1080p. Free takes run up to 3 minutes and carry no watermark. There is no account to create and no paywall when you first open the app.
What does Pro add?

Does Cuelift put a watermark on my videos?
No. A take you record with Cuelift carries no watermark, whether you use the free app or Pro.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
You need no account. Writing, scrolling and recording work offline. A connection is only needed to import a Google Docs link and to buy or restore Pro.
Where does the text sit while I record?
In a reading window next to the camera lens: under it in portrait, and beside it in landscape on a phone. Your eyes stay close to the lens.
Can I bring a script I already wrote?
Yes. Paste the text or open a .txt file. With Pro you can also import .docx files and public Google Docs links.
What happens to my scripts and videos?
They stay on your device. Cuelift has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and your recordings are shared only when you choose to share them.

A note from the makers

We built Cuelift around one idea: the words you read should sit as close to the camera lens as possible, so you can speak to the viewer instead of to a screen. We kept the rest small on purpose. There is no account, no ad, no analytics and no tracking, which also means there is no cloud sync: your scripts live on your device, and deleting the app deletes them. Reading, mirroring and recording are free, with no watermark. The trade-off is the three-minute limit on free takes. Unlimited length, 4K recording and Google Docs import are what Pro is for, and we would rather say so here than hide it behind a paywall.
