About Cardday
Cardday is a flashcard app for learning English words with Turkish meanings, built around widgets. Put the Word of the Day on your Home Screen or, on iPhone, your Lock Screen, study the words in the app with spaced repetition, and keep everything on your device. No account, no ads, no tracking.
English words, Turkish meanings
- Cardday 1.0 teaches English words with Turkish meanings. The buttons and texts come in Türkçe and English, and the meanings are Turkish in both. Cardday 1.0 has no other language pair
- Almost 3,000 words from A1 to B2, each with its part of speech, level and US pronunciation, a Turkish meaning (some words have a second one) and an example sentence with its Turkish translation
- Tap the speaker to hear the word, spoken by your device's own voice
- Search the deck by English word or Turkish meaning, browse it by level, and save the words you want to keep
Widgets that work
- The Word of the Day widget is free: a new word every day, and on the Home Screen its level, pronunciation and Turkish meaning
- On iPhone, Home Screen widgets in three sizes and Lock Screen widgets in three shapes
- On Android, a 2x2 and a 4x2 Home widget
- With Pro, the widget shows the word first and turns over at a tap, and Again and Got it buttons on the widget feed your spaced repetition
- With Pro on iPhone, the widget shows a new card every 15 minutes, 30 minutes or hour. Cardday prepares these cards each time you open the app, and they keep changing for a day or two, so open the app now and then. With Pro on Android, it moves to the next card when you rate one, or when you tap the next button of the wide widget
Study and progress
- Flip a card, then rate it Again, Hard, Good or Easy. Cardday schedules the next review with FSRS, an open spaced-repetition method, and each button shows when the card comes back
- Undo your last rating with one tap
- A day counts toward your streak when you rate 5 different cards
- Stats show words learned, words in progress, what is due today and the cards of the last 7 and 30 days
- An optional daily study reminder, and on Android an optional daily word notification
- Everything stays on your device and works offline
Cardday Pro is optional. The free app has the Word of the Day widget, a 300-word starter pack of A1 words for study and review, reading and saving any word, and your streak and statistics. Pro adds study and review in every level, a widget that changes its card by itself on iPhone, and flip and rating buttons on the widget. Choose yearly (with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers), monthly, or a one-time lifetime purchase. There is no paywall when you first open the app: the purchase screen opens only when you tap a Pro option. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and vary by region.

Features
English words, Turkish meanings
Almost 3,000 words from A1 to B2. Each card has the part of speech, the level, the US pronunciation, a Turkish meaning and an example sentence with its Turkish translation. Tap the speaker to hear the word.
A free Word of the Day widget
A new word every day on the Home Screen, or on iPhone the Lock Screen. Three Home Screen sizes and three Lock Screen shapes on iPhone, a 2x2 and a 4x2 widget on Android.
Spaced repetition
Rate a card Again, Hard, Good or Easy and FSRS schedules its next review. Each button shows when the card comes back, and you can undo your last rating.
Streak and statistics
A day counts when you rate 5 different cards. See words learned, words in progress, what is due today and a chart of the last 7 days.
Reminders
An optional daily study reminder at the time you choose, skipped on a day you have already reached your goal. On Android, an optional daily word notification. Reminders are set on your device.
On your device, no account
Words, progress and saved words are stored in the app, and everything works offline. There is no sign-up, no ad and no tracking.
Pro, when you want it
Every level for study and review, a widget that changes its card by itself on iPhone, and flip and rating buttons on the widget. Yearly (with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers), monthly, or one time for lifetime.

How it works
Step 1
Choose your language and where to start
Pick Türkçe or English for the buttons and texts, and the level to start from (the free starter pack is A1; other levels open with Pro). The words are English and the meanings are Turkish in both. Everything stays on your device.
Step 2
Add the Word of the Day widget
Add a Home Screen widget, or on iPhone a Lock Screen widget. A new word waits for you every day, and the Word of the Day widget is free.
Step 3
Study with spaced repetition
Open a card, tap the speaker to hear the word, turn it over for the Turkish meaning and an example, then rate it Again, Hard, Good or Easy. Each button shows when the card comes back, and you can undo the last rating.
Step 4
Keep a streak and see your progress
A day counts when you rate 5 different cards. The Stats tab shows the words you have learned, the words in progress, what is due today and the cards of the last 7 and 30 days.

No account
You never sign in. The app never asks for your name, e-mail address or phone number.
No ads, no tracking
No analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service and no tracking. The app never asks to track you across other apps.
Stays on your device
Your study progress, saved words, reminders and settings are stored in the app on your device. Widgets draw words on your device. We do not receive them.

Where do the words come from?
The word list and levels follow the CEFR-J Wordlist, the pronunciations come from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary, and the order inside a level follows how often a word appears in everyday English sentences. The Turkish meanings and the example sentences were written for Cardday. The full notices are in the app under Settings, About.
Which widgets are there?
On iPhone there are Home Screen widgets in three sizes and Lock Screen widgets (circle, rectangle and one line). On Android there are two Home widgets, 2x2 and 4x2.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
You need no account. The words, widgets, study, reminders and statistics work offline. A connection is only needed to buy or restore Pro.
What happens to my progress?
It stays on your device. Cardday has no account, so there is no cloud sync, and it has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

We built Cardday for the short moments when you already look at your phone. The Word of the Day widget is free, because meeting one word should take no purchase and no sign-in. Study uses FSRS, an open spaced-repetition method, and each rating button shows when the card comes back. We kept the rest small: no account, no ad, no analytics and no tracking, and with no account there is no cloud sync: your progress lives on your device. Version 1.0 teaches English words with Turkish meanings. Pro opens every level and, on iPhone, the widget that keeps changing, and the app shows its price before you buy.
